Many of us have put a major portion of our lives into this production. As you can figure from the title, this is a production about the ill-fated production. Nancy Mize wrote this theatrical drama that plays off the story of the final days of the Titanic from boarding to shipwreck. The audience is brought into the experience with each receiving a boarding pass with the name of an actual passenger will "boarding." At the end of the production, audience members find their fate - whether they lived our died - and through this, they are faced with the decision of their own eternal destination. SYNOPSIS: The "Ship of Dreams" was so powerful, "not even God could sink it" or so they said. Our main character, Emily, is at the port seeing off her best friends, Maggie and James, as they leave England on their honeymoon and move to a new life in America. At the last moment Emily is provided a way to board the ship herself and work her way to America by becoming the personal assistant to Elizabeth Castleman. Charles and Elizabeth Castleman are self-made entrepreneurs headed back to Chicago to start a new business. While climbing the ladder of success several times, they have never encountered a personal God, or anyone who knows God for that matter, until they employ young Emily. For Emily, God is her constant companion, and while always remembering her station in life, she never hesitates to talk about her best friend. As the story progresses Emily encounters the evil Stanley who looks upon the emigrants as "fresh meat;" the brash and direct Margaret Brown, as well as other wealthy passengers and struggling emigrants. Through her employers, James and Maggie are given the honeymoon of a lifetime aboard Titanic. Of course, there is no "happy ending" as history records. The questions the audience must answer during the course of the play are What would I have done? As a Christian, would I have gotten in the lifeboat sentencing someone else to not just death...but eternal death? And for mortal man, Who or what am I really putting my faith...and life...in? And for the survivors, Why me? Why was I spared? How do I go on? Each person who views this play faces their own "Titanic Moment" for the moment comes not in choosing life or death, but in choosing or rejecting Jesus Christ. A "Titanic Moment" is that moment of eternal decision, for no one knows what may happen in life after that moment passes.
